Kentucky Basketball has made the final four list for one of the best players in the class of 2027.
DeMarcus Henry, the No. 2 player in America via Rivals, will decide where he will play college basketball on Friday, October 30. The list of four includes Kentucky, Arkansas, Louisville, and North Carolina.
Henry has completed a visit to each of the schools on his list. The 6-foot-7 small forward out of Compess Prep visited Kentucky earlier this month and attended the Kentucky Pro Day ahead of the 2026-27
basketball season for the Wildcats.
Schools are pulling out all the stops for Henry, who has a strong understanding of what it takes to reach this level. His family is full of athletes, with him being the son of the late Chris Henry, a former Cincinnati Bengals receiver, and his siblings, Seini and Chris Henry Jr., who are both currently athletes at Ohio State. His sister is a part of the women’s basketball program, and his brother was a 5-star wide receiver in the class of 2026 and has had a pretty good start to his career as a Buckeye.
Henry Legacy provides exclusive access behind the scenes of DeMarcus’ and his sibling’s lives. Within these, you get to see and learn about the visit for the 5-star senior.
During his visit to Kentucky, we saw that the basketball staff was taking advantage of another elite recruiter on campus, Will Stein. Pope and the staff showed him a great time in Lexington, including a visit to the football facility and a pitch from Stein. While on his recent visit to North Carolina, Henry received a call from a pretty decent basketball player. Tar Heel head coach Michael Malone called up Carolina legend Michael Jordan to help recruit the elite small forward a little bit while on campus.
“Mark Pope, Coach Mo, they are all just great people,” Henry shared with KSR. “I love what they’re doing with the program. They’re always reaching out, the whole coaching staff. Just reaching out to me, it means a lot hearing from all those guys. It’s such a great program. They’ve just been saying they believe that they could do the best job with me, and they feel like I’m a priority to them.”
Mark Pope and Mo Williams won’t lose out on this commitment for a lack of effort. The staff has made up some ground in recent months. Pope visited Henry a couple of times before bringing him to Lexington, with Williams also playing a major role in the recruitment.
It’s another recruitment that will come down to Kentucky and some rivals, but we’re nearing the end. The schools have put their best foot forward, so all that’s left is the decision.
Will Henry join Kentucky commit Ryan Hampton in the 2027 recruiting class for Pope and Co., or will he be headed elsewhere for Kentucky to potentially face off against him in the 2027-28 basketball season?
We’re about to find out.
