The Washington Mystics lost to the Seattle Storm, 97-85, on Sunday at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
Shakira Austin scored nine points on 3-3 FG in the opening quarter to lead the Mystics. Georgia Amoore added five points and four assists as Washington trailed 26-24 entering the second frame.
Natisha Hiedeman, who scored 10 points in the first quarter, added eight more in the second as Seattle opened a 12-point halftime lead. Washington shot just 2-for-12 from 3-point range compared to the Storm’s
41% clip in the opening 20 minutes.
Hiedeman’s hot shooting continued into the second half as her 24 points on 7-for-8 FG helped the Storm to a 63-44 advantage halfway through the third quarter. Amoore led the Mystics with 13 points across the first three frames, but she shot just 2-for-8 FG and committed three turnovers.
Washington trailed 76-54 entering the final quarter — a lead Seattle never relinquished. Sonia Citron sparked a late Mystics run with her team-high 16 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Storm cruised to a dominant victory.
The Mystics suffered their second straight double-digit loss to fall to 2-3 on the season.
