In 2025, after honoring hundreds of individual wrestlers, tag teams, and stables with induction, WWE added the first match into its Hall of Fame. The famous WrestleMania 13 clash between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Bret Hart was chosen last year, and for this year’s ceremony WWE will pay tribute to WrestleMania III’s main event.
More moment than match, but WWE does technically call this their “Immortal Moment Award’. And what a moment the then-WWF, Hulk Hogan, and Andre the Giant gave fans at 1987’s
WrestleMania in Detroit’s Pontiac Silverdome (brother). However many tens of thousands of fans who were actually in the building blew the roof off the joint when Hogan got the 500 pound 7’4” Andre up for a body slam.
The moment is immortal, and deserving of historical recognition. It also means WWE can add Hogan’s name to marketing materials for WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas, the first since the star who helped launch the ‘Mania brand died last July at 71-years of age.
Hogan’s slam of Andre at WrestleMania III joins Stephanie McMahon, AJ Styles, Ax & Smash of Demolition, Dennis Rodman, Sid Vicious, and Bad News Brown in this year’s WWE Hall of Fame class.
