The Wisconsin Badgers are loading up over the first week of official visits, bringing in a ton of top targets at a lot of positions.
In the group is Iowa State Cyclones transfer running back Abu Sama, who
is coming off a 732-yard, five-touchdown season as a junior. Working in tandem with running back Carson Hansen, Sama was very productive this past year, averaging 5.2 yards per carry at 5’11, 210 pounds.
Wisconsin is in search of running back talent after losing starter Dilin Jones to the transfer portal, and Sama has quickly climbed to the top of the priority list. The Badgers could target two players at the position, but Sama would be an immediate contributor in the room, joining sophomores Darrion Dupree and Gideon Ituka.
The Badgers are looking to revamp both sides of the ball after losing nearly 40 scholarship players this offseason. That means getting both starting-caliber talent and top depth pieces with an expected increase in spending.
Sama has shown the production in three straight years at Iowa State, and the Ames native would be a good fit for Jeff Grimes’s offense at Wisconsin.
We’ll see if the Badgers are able to close this one this weekend.
