What is the story about?

The official nominees for the Ballon d’Or Awards started to flow and Bayern Munich held a prominent place in several categories.

Below is a compilation of the nominees for the Bavarians.

Men’s Ballon d’Or

Bayern Munich saw Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, and Dayot Upamecano nominated for the Men’s Ballon d’Or. Kane comes off a stellar season, having been awarded the European Golden Shoe, and is one of the favorites for the award. Díaz and Olise have also had outstanding seasons in 2025/26, as has Upamecano, who

has rapidly become one of the best center backs in the world.

Women’s Ballon d’Or

Bayern Munich Frauen players Pernille Harder, Klara Bühl, and Momoko Tanikawa were formally nominated for the Women’s Ballon d’Or. Bühl was instrumental in Bayern’s successful 2025/26 campaign, being the team’s top assister, and Harder was Bayern’s top scorer. Tanikawa, meanwhile, emerged as one of Bayern’s best midfielders, and also won the Asian Cup with Japan.

Club of the Year

Both Bayern’s men’s and women’s teams were nominated for Club of the Year, as they celebrated almost identical success: a domestic treble and a run to the Champions League semifinals. The Frauen finished the Bundesliga season undefeated, and won the DFB-Pokal without conceding a single goal, while the Männer broke the all time Bundesliga goalscoring record.

Bayern thus became the only club to represent themselves in both gender categories.

Men’s Coach of the Year

Bayern Munich’s Vincent Kompany is one of the nominees for Coach of the Year, having led Bayern to a goal-crazed season and three trophies, as well as the Champions League semifinals. Kompany has thus become the most successful Bayern coach since Hansi Flick.

Men’s Young Player of the Year

Bayern Munich’s lack of German representation was slightly made up for, as youngster Lennart Karl picked up a nomination for Men’s Young Player of the Year. Emerging as a young superstar, Karl’s meteoric rise saw him called up to the national team as well, although an untimely injury ruled him out of the World Cup.
