Penn State men’s basketball is once again going global with its recruiting, but this time they’re fishing beyond Europe, as they have snagged a commitment from Filipino point guard Andy Gemao. The 6’1” Gemao just finished a season of playing high school ball at Toronto’s Royal Crown Prep and has also played for the Philippines’ U-19 squad. With Jamison White, son of former NBA player Jahidi White having decommitted and since committed to Saint Louis, Gemao now becomes the lone Class of 2026 high school recruit.
Gemao becomes the third international player added to the roster, joining François Wibaut and Roko Prkačin, in addition to Ivan Jurić, who already has announced he will return to Penn State. Overall, PSU has now added eight players through the portal and high school recruiting combined. In addition to the three names mentioned above, PSU has also added guards Jay Rodgers (Central Connecticut State) and Roberts Blums (Davidson), as well as forwards Brant Byers (Miami-Ohio), Tim Oboh (Buffalo), and Thomas Allard (Alabama-Huntsville).
As for what to expect from Gemao this upcoming season: Your guess is as good as mine. That being said, here’s a nice little highlight reel for you to help make up your mind. Can’t go wrong with a 6’1” dude who can dunk!
