For more than two years, WWE’s flagship program kicked off with Nickleback’s “Burn It To The Ground”.
That ended in 2012. Now in 2026, the oft-mocked Canadian pop rockers are getting back together with the ‘E for their biggest show of the year. WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque revealed today (March 20) that Nickleback’s “Bones For The Crows” is the official them for WrestleMania 42
.For a while in the early days of social media, Nickleback was known as “the most hated band on the internet”. The band usually had fun with their ignominy, and kept on rockin’ no matter how many memes and pranks came their way. While I don’t think they’ve had a full resurgence like Creed, another 90s band with a similar arc, Nickleback have done quite well for themselves over the years. Now, part of their newest song will be played a lot on WWE television again for the next month!
It’s the first rock song to be WrestleMania’s theme in a while. You have to go back to before The Weeknd’s five straight from 36-40, at least. And if you don’t count Kid Rock*, it might be XXV using Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC as one of it’s official songs.
That’s a lot of musing from me about this…
… being the official theme of WrestleMania 42 on April 18-19 in Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium (and if you think I had things to say, wait until my man Marcus gets into it). Let us know what you think of the pick in the comments below.
* And while I’m not embarrassed to say that late 90’s Sean rocked out to “Bawitdaba” and “Cowboy” on multiple occasions (and often more than a few intoxicants)… at this point in human history, no one should count Kid Rock. For anything.
