Last Season: After spending most of his first two seasons at Boston College struggling to find a consistent spot in the lineup, Nolan Joyce became a mainstay on the blue line in his junior campaign, skating in 35 of the team’s 36 games. He had two goals and two assists and was typically listed either on the team’s third pair or as the seventh defenseman but he performed effectively enough in that role to remain
in the lineup on a nightly basis.
Joyce’s four points were the first of his collegiate career and he was credited with a team high 36 blocked shots on the season.
Season Outlook: There are some spots that have opened up higher up on the depth chart on BC’s blue line thanks to the departures of Aram Minnetian, Drew Fortescue, and Lukas Gustafsson, so we’ll see if Nolan Joyce gets any kind of chance to step into a bigger role during his senior season. If not, he’s someone who we know can perform well in a third line or seventh defenseman role and his experience and leadership should be helpful on what is going to be a very young group on the blue line.
Fun Fact: Nolan’s father, John, played for four seasons at BC, scoring over 100 points and serving as the team’s captain in 1993-94
