There’s going to be some nasty weather in New York this weekend, and the Yankees have done their best to try and get ahead of it. Saturday’s showdown with the Orioles will instead be played on Friday, in a traditional single-admission doubleheader.
Game one will kick off at 4:05pm Eastern time, with the highly-anticipated twin promotion of Josh Hart’s bobblehead night and CC Sabathia’s No. 52 being retired pregame. After that first game concludes, game two will kick off about 30 minutes afterward.
There’s no word yet on what the team plans to do for Sunday’s game, although MLB has in the past cancelled games 162 when it’s clear there will be no material impact on the standings. The Orioles currently sit just a game up on the Blue Jays though, so while both are eliminated, the league may try and fit that contest around possible inclement weather since their exact order does at least affect the draft lottery. The Yankees themselves have little to play for with the No. 4 seed locked up in the AL and a home playoff game Tuesday night.
Ticketholders are reminded that only tickets for the original September 25th game will be valid for tomorrow. Ticketholders for September 26th will likely only be able to exchange for 2027 tickets, so let’s make sure that CBA stuff gets cleared up!
