As Survivor Series approaches, this Saturday’s men’s WarGames match features perhaps the two most star-studded Survivor Series teams of all time:
On one side: Roman Reigns, The Usos, World Champion CM Punk, and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
Opposing them: Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul.
On paper, both squads are among the strongest to ever step into WWE’s fall classic, rivaling the 1990 dream team of the Ultimate Warrior, Kerry Von Erich, and the Legion
of Doom. But where they will rank all-time in Survivor Series lore will be decided in the ring this Saturday.
That said, here is a look at the three greatest teams ever assembled for Survivor Series, whether in traditional elimination or WarGames matches:
Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy, One Man Gang, Rick Rude, and Butch Reed
A perfect mix of size, strength, and strategy, they overpowered Hulk Hogan’s team at the inaugural Survivor Series in 1987, squashing Don Muraco and Ken Patera. But it was their brains more than their brawn that helped secure a victory as Bundy and Gang distracted Hogan, causing him to eliminate himself by count-out.
Rick Martel, The Warlord, Hercules, and Paul Roma
Whoever said, “No guts, no glory,” clearly didn’t see The Visionaries coming. At the 1990 spectacular, team captain Rick Martel fled from rival captain Jake “The Snake” Roberts. As Roberts chased after him, he was counted out of the ring, making Martel’s squad the first team in history to survive a traditional Survivor Series elimination match without losing a single team member.
Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, Sami Zayn, and The Usos
The definition of “United we stand,” the Bloodline defeated the Brawling Brutes, Drew McIntyre, and Kevin Owens at the 2022 WarGames after Jey Uso set aside his differences with Sami Zayn. Zayn, in turn, suppressed his feelings for Kevin Owens, leading to a spectacular victory for the Samoan dynasty.
