During the Kansas City Chiefs’ opening drive against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 6, tight end Travis Kelce caught a screen pass and advanced upfield for a minimal gain. After the play, Kelce winced on the ground before gingerly getting up. It appeared that his right ankle was rolled up during the tackle.
He was shown getting his right ankle taped up on the Chiefs’ sideline during the drive, but missed the final two plays of the team’s first possession. Tight end Noah Gray caught a 16-yard pass
on third down, but it wasn’t enough to move the chains. Kansas City settled for a 44-yard field goal made by kicker Harrison Butker.
Kelce looked “incredibly frustrated” on the sideline immediately after the injury, according to Pete Sweeney of The Kansas City Star on X. He noted that the blue tent wasn’t put up. Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star also made note that Kelce was “feeling it” on the sideline after the play.
We’ll continue to monitor Kelce’s status, but he is not missing any time; he was out on the field for the Chiefs’ second drive.
