It’s not impossible to envision the Philadelphia Eagles pulling off an upset over the Carolina Panthers today.
The Panthers’ defense isn’t very good. If anything can get this moribund Eagles offense going, maybe it’s that unit. And maybe the team rallies around Tanner McKee playing in place of an injured Jalen Hurts.
The Panthers’ biggest strength is their offense. Vic Fangio’s defense has been far from perfect this season but that unit is inspiring more confidence lately. If Jalen Carter is truly
getting healthy, he could dominate Carolina’s interior offensive line and make life rough for Bryce Young.
Maybe the Eagles can actually pull off their first win as home underdogs since the Nick Sirianni era began in 2021.
But that’s not what I feel comfortable predicting to happen.
There’s just a lot working against the Eagles in this spot. The injuries. The rest disadvantage. The bad vibes.
While I’m not ready to write off McKee entirely (due to some of the flashes we’ve seen in the past), it’s hard to completely disregard how he couldn’t decisively beat out Andy Dalton for the QB2 job. He looked the worst I’ve ever seen him this offseason.
Even if McKee did look good, it’s impossible to trust this Eagles offense right now. I’d much more regret betting on them than against them.
The Eagles will give a good effort once again but the Panthers will pull away with the win to hand Philly their fourth straight loss.
