According to Mike Klis of 9News, the Denver Broncos have waived cornerback Brent Austin today.
Austin was an undrafted rookie free agent cornerback who started at James Madison before transferring to USF. He ended up finishing his college career with two seasons at Cal. That season he posted forty-two tackles and thirteen pass deflections. He is a guy we viewed as a developmental candidate on the practice squad as rookie:

it seems most realistic that Austin will have a good shot at earning a spot on the practice squad for continued development. You can never have enough quality cover players, and Austin’s collegiate tape and resume show a promising player who has the ability to contribute as a reserve player in the future.
He had a great training camp as an undrafted rookie, but the cornerback position is a stacked one in Denver. I would look for him to be a priority addition to the practice squad based on what little we’ve gotten from camp reports.
