Yeah, the SEC starting in 2026 will play nine conference games, the thing that the Big Ten insisted everybody had to do along with them when their network partners made them do it. So the SEC caved, I guess, and I can only hope Disney is paying
extra.
Oh yeah, and there’s also this.
So: it’s a good thing they didn’t do the really stupid thing and force a scheduling arrangement with the Big Ten and continue to count the ACC and Big 12 as big time. I guess that had to be done to accommodate Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Kentucky. Still, I’d much rather play Wake Forest than be made to play Rutgers or something because some TV guy says we do.
Anyway, I don’t particularly like this. Vanderbilt’s 2026 nonconference schedule has games against Austin Peay and Delaware for a reason.
