The Round of 16 is drawing to a close, and tomorrow will be the first day with no World Cup games since the tournament began 26 days ago on June 11. The quarterfinals will begin on Thursday.
The early game is Argentina and Egypt. Lionel Messi and Argentina started the tournament incredibly well, before showing some weakness in their 3-2 extra-time victory over heroic underdogs Cape Verde. Can Messi and company continue their ride, or will they falter against another team they are strongly favored
against?
The later game is Switzerland and Colombia. You might not have picked either of these two to advance to the quarterfinals, and they will be grateful that their Round of 16 matchup pits them against each other, rather than against some of the tournament’s heavyweights.
After last night’s bitter loss, you may feel like tuning out and slamming the door on soccer. The game can be a fickle lover, cutting deep and causing pain that can feel unbearable at times. But if you shut yourself out from the pain, you also won’t get to experience the moments of joy. Climb back in with us. We’re ready to get hurt again.

This thread will be your match thread. We don’t have many rules here. We just ask that you don’t insult each other personally and treat each other with respect.
