The Green Bay Packers’ positions of focus for the 2026 NFL Draft are starting to come into focus. While the Packers are known to draft or sign players who came to the team facilities for formal pre-draft visits, an even more clear sign is the positions of the players whom they invite.
With more than a third of the team’s 30 official visitors now reported, a few trends are starting to emerge and one of these is that the team is evaluating defensive tackles in the early-to-middle rounds. Monday brought
the news that borderline top-100 prospect Kaleb Proctor is one of the players visiting Green Bay and now Tuesday’s reports reveal that a top-50 player at that position is coming as well.
The news comes from NFL reporter Aaron Wilson that the Packers are digging in on another Georgia defender. This time it is defensive tackle Christen Miller, a 6-foot-4, 321-pound player who has experience at multiple positions across the defensive line.
Miller is a prime candidate for a pre-draft visit for a number of reasons. First, he could be a serious candidate for the Packers with their first draft pick in 2026. Without a round-one selection, the Packers’ first choice will come in the second round at #52 overall. Miller is currently ranked 46th on the consensus draft board, potentially putting him in range for Green Bay with that pick.
Another prime reason for the visit is that Miller did not perform any formal athletic testing at either the Scouting Combine or Georgia’s Pro Day, electing to solely perform positional drills in Athens. This may be a reason why he has so many visits lined up, as Wilson reports that he is scheduled to visit at least 10 of the 32 NFL teams during the pre-draft process.
Physically, Miller has the size to play nose tackle, the position that the Packers need most on the defensive line. That distinguishes him from Proctor, who is likely limited to a pass-rushing 3-technique role. In college, however, Miller played more 3-tech than nose, lining up in the B gap about twice as often as he did in the A gap. This actually makes him one of the more versatile down linemen in this class, however, as he should be able to man the nose against the run on early downs as well as stay on the field in pass-rushing situations.
The Packers have drafted more than their fair share of Georgia Bulldog defenders over the last decade. Miller could well be the next in that long line.
