The Philadelphia Eagles are 11-5 heading into their Week 18 season finale against the Washington Commanders (4-12) on Sunday late-afternoon.
It hasn’t been long since these two NFC East teams faced off,
and while the NFL probably anticipated a Week 18 matchup with postseason implications, the Eagles already clinched the division title and the Commanders are already looking toward the future. Still, there’s an air of a revenge game for some of the Washington players, who are still bitter about how the Eagles handled their substantial lead a few weeks ago.
Even if the Commanders get the best of the Eagles on Sunday, it’s hard to consider them even given Philadelphia’s second-team players will be on the field. In fairness, Washington will have their QB3 on the field, with Josh Johnson confirmed to be the starting quarterback with Marcus Mariota still sidelined — OT Laremy Tunsil will also miss the season finale.
The Eagles are still in the hunt for the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, but head coach Nick Sirianni said that since they don’t control their own destiny — they need to win and the Bears need to lose for that to happen — he’d rather control what he can, which is keeping his starters healthy. That doesn’t mean the team is giving up on the opportunity, and there’s a lot of confidence in Tanner McKee’s ability to lead the offense to victory.
If nothing else, Sunday’s game will serve as a great opportunity for young guys to get experience in case their name is called in the postseason, and also gives the team a chance to evaluate some of the talent on the depth chart as they head into free agency. Plus, the Eagles will be wearing their kelly green uniforms, so the vibes will be up as they put an end to the 2025 regular season.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to watch the game.
