Die Folgen: Bayern’s 4-1 win over Gladbach (Bavarian Football Works)
Bayern Munich hosted its bogey team, Borussia Mönchengladbach, in a match where the Bavarians were down several key players entering the contest.
None of that mattered, though, as Bayern Munich smashed Die Fohlen, 4-1.
The Bavarians were strong from start to finish and never let Gladbach establish itself. Let’s dive into the details, here are some quick hitters on the match:
- As always, let’s begin with a look at the starting XI:
- The big surprise was Tom Bischof starting at….left-back. Otherwise, the selections were pretty much on-point. Lennart Karl over Olise was not wholly unexpected after Olise was banged up last week and did not look great in the win over Borussia Dortmund.
- To his credit, Bischof played well for being out of position once again.
- From the outset, it was clear that this was not going to be one of those games where Bayern Munich was flat or unmotivated. The squad was hard-working and fully engaged.
- Goretzka’s close-quarters chip to Díaz in the 33rd minute was superb and the Colombian rifled his shot to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
- Nicolas Jackson had chances, but he is just not an effective finisher. The Bavarians were trying like hell to get him the ball and get him going.
- In the 44th minute, Laimer had a nice little flick to Jackson to spring him for a shot, but the striker missed the target.
- In added time, Bayern sprung itself on a quick counter led by Jackson. The ball eventually got to Díaz, who slid a nice pass across the box to Laimer, who unleashed a laser for a goal.
- While Jackson’s finishing left something to be desired, he was making some quality clearing runs, which is important.
- Jonas Urbig came on for Neuer at halftime. During the match, there was no word on what was ailing Neuer, if anything. As it turns out, though, Neuer had was felled by a calf issue.
- Leon Goretzka was really good in the match and had a nice relationship with Joshua Kimmich as the duo starred in the midfield.
- In the 52nd minute, Laimer unleashed another rocket, which went just wide.
- In the 55th minute, Jackson drew a penalty, which ended up being a red card on Rocco Reitz. Musiala eventually converted the PK for his first Bundesliga goal of the season.
- Musiala took some hits in this game, which should help him. That contact he absorbed will help him build confidence.
- In the 60th minute, Maycon Cardozo had his debut. One of the big positives of the match was that Kompany was able to get some key players rested by subbing.
- Karl has looked a lot less aggressive and less willing to take defenders on of late, but this game represented some progress. The kid needs to fully embrace that mentality that carried him in the first half of the season. Karl assisted Jackson with a nice cross in the 79th minute. We know that courageous style is still inside of him, but we need to see more of it.
- In the 89th minute, 17-year-old Wael Mohya cleaned up a rebound for Gladbach to make it 4-1. The defending on the free kick, which led to the goal left a lot to be desired.
- Overall, there was never a doubt that Bayern Munich was going to win, even if it took a while for the team to get on the scoresheet. Even though there was a lineup that was heavily rotated, Bayern Munich just performed as a unit. That was awesome to see and it was yet another great win for the season. On to Atalanta and the Champions League!

Kane to Barcelona? Nope (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Those rumors linking Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane to FC Barcelona persisted for a bit, but Sport Bild’s Christian Falk insists that there is no true to them:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Barcelona have made preliminary contact over Harry Kane’s future. These rumours have been around for weeks. Perhaps the person who started them said he made contact, and of course, it looks interesting when you’re trying to become the next president at Barcelona, and you’re saying you want to bring Kane to the club. However, Harry Kane doesn’t know anything about any contact from Barca. His brother, Charlie, who is his agent, also hasn’t had any contact from Barcelona. Likewise, his father, who’s also part of the management team, hasn’t heard anything about this. So, I don’t think this is really the truth. But I appreciate that it sounds really good from Barca’s perspective!
Ultimately, though, if this is also the first time Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s head coach, is hearing about it, then you can probably discount this rumour! They are interested in signing a striker, I should add, but they’re currently looking at Julian Alvarez at Athletico Madrid. Harry Kane sounds like a great idea, but there’s no way this transfer is going to happen.
Mainz wants to re-up Nebel (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Mainz 05 wants to bring back attacking midfielder / winger Paul Nebel:
🚨🆕 FSV Mainz 05 want to extend the contract of Paul #Nebel beyond 2027.
However, a transfer in summer is still possible, partly because there have been many enquiries from clubs in the Bundesliga.
Nebel has also recently signed with the new agency Sports360, and talks are ongoing in all directions.

At one point, Nebel was on the radar of the German national team. The 23-year-old has one goal and two assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this season.
Bayern among teams eyeing Alajbegović? (SportsBoom’s Ekrem Konur)
Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in Red Bull Salzburg winger Kerim Alajbegović, an 18-year-old, who was acquired from Bayer Leverkusen last summer:
🚨🆕 #ACMilan 🇧🇦
AC Milan & Juventus are monitoring Salzburg’s winger Kerim Alajbegović!📌 Holds German citizenship → Bayern also interested.
📌 Bayer Leverkusen → €6M buy-back clause in place.
📌 Future beyond summer 2026 increasingly uncertain.
Alajbegović plays internationally for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Transfermarkt had this scouting report on him:
Alajbegovic plays most of his games on the left wing, but according to our Bosnia expert, he is very flexible. “He can also play as a right-winger or center-forward. He can help his team in all three positions.” His preferred position as a left-wing doesn’t really exist in Leverkusen’s system at the moment, which means he is more likely to feature as an attacking midfielder behind a single striker. What stands out is his technique and ability to read the game.
“For his age, he has an excellent technique. He is good at dribbling, runs often with the ball, and can assert himself. Furthermore, he has a good shot and is very good at set pieces. His match intelligence is especially apparent regarding the second ball.” This season’s statistics underline that Alajbegovic shines as both a goalscorer and contributor. He has also shown leadership qualities on the pitch. “I have heard from his national teammates that he is a true leader and always wants to win. He is someone who always pushes the team.”
Galatasaray not in on Kim (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
There were some rumors linking Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae to Galatasaray, but Sport Bild’s Christian Falk says that is not true:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Galatasaray are interested in Kim Min-jae. There was interest in the player last summer, but it was never quite concrete. At the moment, there’s no interest from Galatasaray. Kim Min-jae himself played in the past in Turkey with Fenerbahçe. However, he’s not so keen to go back at the moment. If there were an offer on the table, and there was quite a lot of interest in the last winter window from Saudi Arabia, he would think about it. He would definitely think about an offer from the Premier League, but I’m afraid to say that Galatasaray are not interested, and Kim Min-jae isn’t so keen himself to go to Istanbul.
It is very clear that Bayern Munich is open to letting Kim go, now it is just up to him on whether he wants to leave or not.
Amiri looking to leave Mainz (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Mainz attacking midfielder Nadiem Amiri is looking for a move away from Mainz this season:
🚨EXCL | Nadiem #Amiri is planning a move in the summer and wants to take the next step in his career. 15G/3A this season yet.
There have already been enquiries for the 29 y/o German international, with a move outside Europe also a possibility.
His big goal is to play at the World Cup with Germany. Amiri is under contract with FSV Mainz 05 until 2028 and now represented by agents Pini Zahavi and Max Bielefeld.
Amiri in the midst of a very strong campaign with 15 goals and three assists in 28 games across all competitions this season.
