Carlo Ancelotti, speaking at a press conference to announce Brazil’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Tunisia and Senegal, addressed the recent controversy surrounding Vinícius Jr. and his reaction to being substituted during the Clásico.
The Brazilian forward had shown visible frustration toward Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso after being taken off.
Ancelotti was quick to play down any tension, emphasizing that the issue had already been discussed and settled internally.
“We have a very good
relationship with Vinícius, as with all the players. When something happens, we keep each other informed and ask for advice. We spoke with Vinícius about his reaction. I told him what I thought — that he had made a mistake. He understood the mistake, and I think he apologized. The matter is resolved,” said Ancelotti.
The Brazil coach went on to express his admiration for the Real Madrid star, highlighting both his importance to the national team and his personal regard for him.
“Vinícius is a very important player for us, a player who can contribute a lot, and we’re very fond of him. I don’t think there’s any problem here — not with his club, and not with his coach.
“I’m not his father or his brother — I just want to be his coach. His personal life is his own business.”
