Over the past six months, Bayern Munich attacker Lennart Karl has taken the soccer world by storm with his dazzling dribbling, sensational scoring, and fluid style of play. The 17-year old sensation has worked his way into the starting lineup with six goals and two assists across 881 minutes of play.
Karl has starred for the German youth national teams but is still waiting for his first international cap under Julian Nagelsmann. Given the struggles to find reliable wingers, Bayern and Germany fans
alike have been demanding Karl receive an opportunity.
The most recent addition to this list is Michael Ballack, a top 10 player on Germany’s all-time scoring list.
“What he’s showing week in week out is truly unusual and exceptional – whether coming off the bench or starting, he’s doing an outstanding job,” said Ballack (via @iMiaSanMia). “Julian Nagelsmann has options, and Lennart has already proven that he’s more than just one of them. I think that if you’re already performing at this level at such a young age, then you clearly have quality. There’s no doubt about that.”
Given that Ballack is Karl’s agent, Ballack might be a little biased. However, the idea has its merits and has become of a matter of “when, not if” for the teenage wunderkind from Frammersbach.
