The NFL preseason is now over and we can move on to the regular season. We have big expectations for the Seattle Seahawks in Mike Macdonald’s second season, but what about FanDuel Sportsbook? Let’s take a look at some of the odds for popular betting categories in case you want to wager some hard-earned cash!
Seahawks win totals
The pivot point for wins is between 7.5 and 8.5.
Under 7.5 wins (-140)
Over 7.5 wins (+120)
Under 8.5 wins (+125)
Over 8.5 wins (-145)
I don’t know about you, but I would hammer the over on 8.5 wins.
Maybe I’m drinking the Kool-Aid? I just have a hard time imagining this team having a worse record than last season when the offense couldn’t get out of its own way most of the time. The defense should theoretically be even better with a year of experience in Macdonald’s scheme.
NFC West winner
San Francisco 49ers (+155)
Los Angeles Rams (+200)
Arizona Cardinals (+390)
Seattle Seahawks (+500)
Seattle is dead last to win the NFC West at (+500)?!? Am I missing something here? Was there a glitch in the matrix?
Last time I checked, the Arizona Cardinals weren’t any good, Stafford had a broken back (spinal), and the 49ers were trading for WRs who drop more passes than they catch. I could be eating these words in a few months’ time, but I have the hardest of hard times imagining how Seattle finishes last in the NFC West.
Seahawks make/miss playoffs
Make playoffs (+176)
Miss playoffs (-225)
Well, this shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the win totals and division winner odds from above. Seattle is expected to miss the playoffs for a second straight season. I don’t see that happening, personally, as I think the Seahawks have more than a fighting chance to win the NFC West. Even if they don’t, I still believe they’ll earn a wildcard berth. The NFC North won’t be as strong this year, and the NFC South is still bad.
Super Bowl winner/matchup
Seattle is +5500 to win the Super Bowl, roughly middle of the pack and behind both the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams…again, that tracks considering the odds for winning the NFC West.
Here are a few of the most likely Super Bowl matchups featuring the Seahawks:
Baltimore Ravens vs Seattle Seahawks (+10000)
Buffalo Bills vs Seattle Seahawks (+10000)
Kansas City Chiefs vs Seattle Seahawks (+10000)
As those three AFC teams are the most likely to make the Super Bowl, it makes sense that those would also be the three most likely matchups for a Seahawks Super Bowl berth.
Seahawks player milestones
Sam Darnold to reach 4,000 yards passing (+300)
Sam Darnold to get 30 passing TDs (+450)
Jaxon Smith-Njigba to reach 1,000 yards receiving (-110)
Jaxon Smith-Njigba to get 10 receiving TDs (+390)
Kenneth Walker III to reach 1,000 yards rushing (+170)
Kenneth Walker III to get 10 rushing TDs (+180)
These are some of the relevant player milestones for the season. With DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett out of the way, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is expected to get 1,000 yards receiving with first-year Seahawks QB Sam Darnold. The other ones, however, would be a surprise according to oddsmakers. Sam Darnold is an underdog for big production in Klint Kubiak’s run-first offense. Call me crazy considering Ken Walker III hasn’t been healthy for the last few years, but I can see him making hay under Kubiak. The fact that it’s a contract year doesn’t hurt him, either.
