AZ Desert Swarm: How would you rate your senior season and what stood out this year compared to others?
Brandon Smith: I can now rate my senior season a 1000 out of 10. My goal for senior year was to win State and set new records. I have achieved all of that and more. But what stood out to me is handling the highs and lows of any season. My coach, Coach (Kyle) Biggs, pushes the team hard and made me push myself harder mentally. It’s not how you start but how my team and I finished.
AZDS: In your opinion, what’s the best part of your game? Which part needs improvement?
Smith: I am a versatile player. I can block, catch and run the ball. Once I get out there and put on more weight, I will become a better blocker.
AZDS: What was it that stood out about Arizona, driving you to the decision Tucson was the place for you?
Smith: It was the passion and the humble nature of all of the coaches. Arizona has a family atmosphere and you can tell the football department can make you a better player, as well as help me grow as a young man.
AZDS: What is one thing about you that no one would know about you just by looking at your profile?
Smith: I love candy. I always have a backpack full of it.
AZDS: What is your message to Arizona fans?
Smith: Thank you for embracing me so far. What Coach Brennan and the other coaches are doing is only the beginning!
The 4-star playmaker will be on campus this summer. He brings a nice balance of power and speed to the room and is a good contrast to Kedrick Reescano, Quincy Craig and Wes Yarbrough.
