Daniel Dubois is currently scheduled to hold an immediate rematch with Fabio Wardley on Oct. 17 after stopping him to win the WBO heavyweight title back in May, and with fellow British heavyweights in Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua set to collide this December, Dubois tells Sky Sports that he wouldn’t mind a potential showdown against Fury whatsoever considering he’s already beaten Joshua.
“What a fight that would be. It’s like me and AJ all over again. That sort of magnitude. That’s what boxing’s
about really. Frank [Warren, their promoter] would love it, he’s got both of us. I’ve got to come through my next fight and anything’s possible,” Dubois told Sky Sports News.
With that being said, Dubois would make it a point to note that he’s in no way overlooking Wardley in this rematch, especially knowing that Wardley will be coming in looking to prove a point and emphatically flip the results of their last meeting.
There has been a lot of talk about whether or not Wardley should be back in with Dubois so soon after the tremendous punishment he suffered in that stoppage loss just a few months ago, and Dubois believes he’s going to essentially pick up where he left off to make things an even shorter night this time. And should Dubois come through, he’ll have no shortage of options for his next outing.
