Personally, I have not been much of a believer in Georgia this year. The one win that’s worth a damn was in the rain against a freshman quarterback. This simulated season seems to agree. This matchup see the #2 Ole Miss Rebels (7-1) host #25 Georgia (4-4).
I don’t think they are 4-4 bad, but I don’t believe they are the same powerhouse they have been year in and year out. However, they will be seeking revenge against the team that ended their season last year. Let’s see how the simulation sees it
playing out.
1st Quarter
Ole Miss won the toss and opted to go on offense first. It turned out to be the right decision as the Rebels drove down the field with a beautiful opening script. The drive ended in a three-yard Trinidad Chambliss read-option keeper. Georgia went three and out on their opening drive and a shanked punt put the Rebels in excellent starting position. After one first down, Ole Miss settled for a Lucas Carneiro field goal. Both teams exchanged three and outs to close the quarter.
End of the 1st: 10-0 Rebels
2nd Quarter
Georgia was able to get it going offensively. Nate Frazier busted off a 22 yard run setting up the 28 yard touchdown pass from Gunner Stockton to Isiah Canion. The Bulldogs were able to bottle up Chambliss and the Rebel offense, forcing another three and out. Stockton drove down the field again, but a third down stop forced a game tying field goal. On the ensuing possession, Chambliss threw a pick six on the first play as Georgia took their first lead of the game. The Rebels were able to respond at the end of the half with a 26 yard touchdown catch by Johntay Cook.
End of the 2nd: 17-17 tie
3rd Quarter
Georgia received the ball to start the second half and the Ole Miss defense was ready to respond as Jay Crawford picked off Gunner Stockton and returned it 21 yards to Georgia five yard line. Makhi Frazier was able to punch it in giving Ole Miss the lead back. Georgia was unable to move the ball on their next drive, punting it back to Ole Miss. Chambliss led his team to another score with a 16 yard pass to Horatio Fields. Stockton was picked off by Crawford again to end the quarter.
End of the 3rd: 31-17 Rebels
4th Quarter
The final quarter became a defensive showcase as neither team could do much of anything. Georgia was able to breakthrough late in the quarter with a touchdown pass to CJ Wiley. A penalty put Georgia in position to go for two, but were denied. Ole Miss was able to drain the clock and hang on to the victory.
Final: 31-23
