Mike Malott may have punched his ticket to a top five matchup earlier tonight (Sat., Oct. 17, 2026) at UFC Edmonton LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, when the Canadian contender closed the show with a nasty second-round knockout (knee and punch).
Ahead of the welterweight main event, UFC Edmonton’s undercard produced an astonishing 11 total finishes in just 12 fights. It was up to Malott and Buckley to deliver one more stoppage to make Saturday’s return to Canada
even more memorable. Luckily for all those watching, Malott came through with a massive performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy and tied the UFC record for most finishes in a single event (12).
After a first round that was a methodical chess match, the two welterweights opened up a bit in the second. That ultimately led to an exchange that would change the night for both men. As Buckley was coming inside for an attack Malott launched a kick to the body and his knee connected flush with chin. Buckley’s mouthpiece came flying out and he fell to the canvas. Malott followed up with a huge right hand and that was all she wrote. It was an incredible level-up moment for Malott and a win that could put him in a massive fight his next time out.
