Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mizzou SEC Player of the Week Awards.
Mizzou’s 29-20 win over South Carolina on Saturday night was certainly noticed by the league.
Missouri dominated the weekly awards with the victory in their conference opener. Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR players were named to Player of the Week awards.
Ahmad Hardy is your SEC Offensive Player of the Week:
Became the second player in Mizzou history to have four consecutive 100-yard rushing games.
Keegan Trost is your SEC Offensive
Lineman of the Week:
Did not allow a sack or a QB hit and just one hurry on 27 pass attempts.
Zion Young is your SEC C0-Defensive Lineman of the Week:
Young led a defense that held South Carolina to -9 rushing yards in a 29-20 victory to open Southeastern Conference play.
And Robert Meyer is your SEC Freshman of the Week:
He scored nine points while going 3-for-3 on field goal attempts, connecting from 23, 22 and 40 yards.
His 40-yard field goal with 1:34 remaining in the game gave the Tigers a two-score lead and sealed the win.
Well-deserved from all four. More discussion on RockM+.
And Mizzou Volleyball had a productive week as well. The Tigers went 3-0 in the Leatherneck Classic against Valpo, Chicago State, and Western Illinois without losing a set to improve to 8-3 overall on the season. Senior libero Maya Sands led the way for Mizzou — who has named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Sands led the Tigers defensively with 60 digs (6.00 digs per set) as MU swept through the Leatherneck Classic with three-straight wins against Valparaiso, Chicago State and Western Illinois.
Up next: Missouri begins SEC play on Wednesday night at Texas A&M — a 6:00 p.m. CST start on ESPN2.

Losing your best offensive lineman is never a positive, but it helps to have an experienced swing tackle waiting behind him.
Without Cayden Green for the time being, Mizzou’s offensive line should still be fine with Jayven Richardson.
In the SEC opener against a motivated and desperate South Carolina team on ESPN primetime, Hardy performed at his best.
Hardy becomes the second player in Mizzou Football history with four consecutive 100+ yard rushing games.
On Saturday, Missouri hosted South Carolina in its first SEC matchup of the 2025 season. The Tigers won 29-20 and remained undefeated, improving to a 4-0 record. I present to you: photos of the week, Mayor’s Cup edition.
Good stuff from Hannah Henderson with some excellent photos from the win over South Carolina.
Based on other SEC teams’ schedules being released, the Mizzou Gym schedule is starting to come together. Here’s what we know so far— (Karen found some more gymnastics schedule news, and updated the new swim schedule)

Now why is Missouri going to Washington D.C. to play a true road game against the Howard Bison?
Mizzou Hoops begins the season on November 3rd with a weird game at Howard. Read up on the Bison.
On3 / Rivals.com’s Chris Low broke the news on the new Permanent Rivals coming to the SEC next season in Football, and his reporting has the SEC matching Missouri up against Arkansas, Oklahoma and… Texas A&M? Huh. Ok.
This was my reaction as well. Arkansas and Oklahoma make sense, Texas A&M over South Carolina is an odd choice.
