There has been plenty of talk regarding the Miami Dolphins’ desire to move on from former starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this offseason. We have seen reports that claim new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan would prefer to trade the former number five overall draft pick — but with Tagovailoa’s massive salary being a hindrance there, a cut seems more likely. However, some have wondered if the Dolphins would keep Tagovailoa on the roster for the 2026 season after Sullivan said “all options are
on the table” when it comes to the lefty signal caller.
While the rumors surrounding the future of Tagovailoa have been the talk of social media lately, one thing missing from social media posts by the Miami Dolphins yesterday was a “happy birthday” message from the team to Tua — despite the organization routinely wishing all of their players well on their special day.
Tagovailoa turned 28 years-old on Monday, yet the team’s socials didn’t acknowledge the milestone on X, Instagram, TikTok, MySpace, Vine, or even LiveJournal!
As silly as it sounds, could the radio silence regarding Tagovailoa’s birthday be the final nail in the quarterback’s coffin in regards to his time as a Miami Dolphins quarterback? It’s a complicated situation involving lots of mathematical equations — pre-June 1st cut, post June-1st cut, contract restructure?
The contractual element of the Tagovailoa conundrum may not be resolved anytime soon, but the silence from the Dolphins on Monday — Tua’s birthday — could truly be speaking volumes.
