Early Indications That Chiefs Could Trade Up in First Round | Sports Illustrated
Bain Jr. has been linked with Kansas City throughout the pre-draft process, as Reese and Bailey are each expected to be taken inside the top five. However, the Chiefs have visited the Texas Tech and Ohio State pass rushers on top-30 visits. According to Senior NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, that could be a sign that Kansas City is exploring moving up the board.
“What’s interesting to me, that the Chiefs have visited with a couple
really good pass rushers who should go earlier than they pick, which means at least they’re looking at the potential moving up in the draft,” Rapoport said. “Remember, the last time they moved a really good player, which was Tyreek Hill, they completely retooled their defense. This is what the Chiefs do, right? They have the opportunity to take these draft picks and say, ‘we’re going to make the entire team better while giving up one good player to do it.'”
While losing Walker, their Super Bowl 60 MVP, stings, one NFL executive, according to Mike Sando of The Athletic, actually didn’t mind the decision for two main reasons.
“I don’t mind them letting the back go for that price,” one NFL executive said. “They will draft one.”
The two reasons why this NFL executive didn’t mind this decision from Seattle are clear: Walker’s price tag and how the Seahawks can address the position now that he’s gone.
Walker cost the Chiefs over $40 million over just three seasons, with the deal reaching upwards of $45 million, or $15 million per-year.
That’s a lot of money for a running back, especially for the Seahawks, who have massive deals with Jaxon Smith-Njigba and soon Devon Witherspoon on the horizon.

Xavier Worthy is miscast as the Chiefs’ No. 1 outside wide receiver
The Chiefs hope they can count on Rashee Rice to be their No. 1 wideout even if he’s mostly deployed from the slot position. That leaves Xavier Worthy and Tyquan Thornton as their starting duo on the outside.
Worthy is arguably the top performer of that duo which makes him Kansas City’s No. 1 option on the outside. The pass-catching hierarchy would look a lot better if he slotted in at the No. 2 spot. That can only happen if the Chiefs go out and get a true, big-body wide receiver to play on the boundary via the draft.
Someone like Denzel Boston could be intriguing if he falls to Kansas City in Round 2. The Chiefs don’t need a superstar in this spot, but they need something different for the pass-catching group. Finding that guy and sliding Worthy down in the pecking order would be a big boost to Mahomes and the offense.
Omar Cooper Jr. Will Bring Big-Play Ability to the Chiefs
PFSN’s T.J. Randall projected the Chiefs to land Cooper with their second first-round pick, acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in the Trent McDuffie trade. The selection came after he projected Kansas City to draft Mansoor Delane with the ninth overall pick.
“Swapping the need-picks for the Kansas City Chiefs in this version nets Kansas City Delane and the threatening Omar Cooper Jr., what a duo,” Randall wrote. “Few receivers in the class share the Indiana wideout’s penchant for widening throwing lanes at all three levels.”
Cooper emerged as one of college football’s most dynamic playmakers in head coach Curt Cignetti’s offense. He finished his final season at Indiana with 69 catches for 937 yards and 13 touchdowns, including a program-record-tying 4-touchdown performance against Indiana State.
NFL Heiress Gracie Hunt Engaged to Former Chiefs Quarterback’s Son Derek Green | Source
The 27-year-old daughter of billionaire Kansas City Chiefs CEO Clark Hunt announced her engagement to Derek Green—whose dad Trent Green was the team’s quarterback for five of his 15 seasons in the NFL—nearly one year after hard launching their romance on social media.
In a post on Instagram April 4, Gracie shared multiple photos of the outdoor proposal, where the couple were surrounded by white candles and flowers on a wooden deck. Derek, 26, got down on one knee in a light gray suit, while his bride-to-be wore a white floor-length dress.
As for Gracie’s new sparkler, one close-up pic offered a detailed glimpse at her emerald-cut ring, complete with diamonds along the band and a single emerald green stone.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid selected to narrate a USA anniversary program | Chiefs Wire
Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid continues to keep busy this offseason, aside from welcoming new free agents and preparing for next month’s NFL Draft.
Reid was selected to join the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square as guest narrator for a special broadcast on July 5th, to celebrate the anniversary of the United States.
“They were the ultimate team — facing adversity, staying the course and building something that has endured for 250 years,” Reid said in a press release. “I’m honored to join The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square to celebrate the birth of our nation in a place that reflects the same spirit of unity and faith.”

Jaguars’ Walker used Donald comparison to reach next level | ESPN
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Travon Walker instantly got the message when head coach Liam Coen used an Aaron Donald comparison during their end-of-season meeting.
Coen wasn’t comparing Walker to Donald, one of the greatest defensive linemen in NFL history, as a player, but to emulate the way Donald prepared, practiced and played. He wants to see the same things from Walker.
That’s what Walker, who signed his four-year, $110 million contract extension on Saturday, wants, too.
“It’s just like taking my game to another level,” Walker said. “Obviously, he’s seen Aaron Donald. He was on the team with Aaron Donald. So it just kind of helped put things in perspective for me to be able to just click it to a different type of mindset from how I was going throughout the year.
“And I feel like it really clicked [and] dawned on me that it’s just time to ramp things up, take it to the next level.”
Zac Taylor has one year to “figure this out”, says NFL exec | Cincy Jungle
“They knew they had to fix some stuff on defense,” the exec told The Athletic’s Mike Sando. “It looks like they are saying, ‘You guys have one year to figure this out. Otherwise, we can get out of the coach’s contract.’”
And Taylor might not even be positioned to succeed, as the free agent moves aren’t all homeruns.
Another exec Sando spoke with was critical of the Mafe signing, calling the former Seattle Seahawk “a DPR (designated pass rusher) who does not play the run at all.” He added that Mafe won’t have as much support in Cincinnati, because, “in Seattle, it was more about rushing four as one.”

Draft Darlings: Clemson DE T.J. Parker is high-floor option for Chiefs
The Bottom Line
Parker was projected to be a top-10 player coming into the season, and he didn’t live up to that. His 2025 tape showed some of the limitations of his ceiling. Parker isn’t bendy enough to have a high ceiling as a pass rusher, and he still needs to develop other pass-rush moves. He didn’t take the step people were hoping for.
That being said, Parker’s floor is higher than people realize. His combination of length, density, and explosiveness translates cleanly to the NFL. His speed-to-power game will work in any defense. Even if Parker is just a pocket crusher who sets the edge, he can be a quality starter that gets around 5-6 sacks a season.
Parker can also get better. His lack of bend might prevent him from progressing into putting up 10 or more sacks by the season, but if he can develop some inside moves, he could maximize the skillset he has and push for that range consistently. He’s still a young player with good tools that appear capable of further development than what Clemson was able to provide.
