Barcelona have been handed some bad news on the injury front as Joan Garcia has been sidelined with a knee injury.
The goalkeeper picked up the injury during Wednesday’s 7-2 win over Racing and was replaced by back-up Wojciech Szczęsny at half-time.
Garcia has now undergone tests on the problem and has been diagnosed with a meniscus injury in his right knee, according to Catalunya Radio and Diario AS. It is not the same knee that required surgery last season.
The reports say that Garcia will miss three
weeks, meaning he’s out of Saturday’s La Liga fixture at Sevilla and will also sit out Spain’s fixtures over the upcoming international break.
Szczesny may now continue between the sticks, although Barcelona also have summer signing Dominik Livakovic available.
Flick confirmed after the game that Szczesny is the team’s No. 2 this season and gave him his backing despite his error against Racing that led to a goal.
