Good morning, it’s Monday, December 22. The Cleveland Cavaliers are 15-14 and host the Charlotte Hornets tonight.
We could really use a win.
Today’s game of the day
- Dallas Mavericks vs New Orleans Pelicans – 8 PM, NBC (Peacock)
The Cavs tip off at 7, so if you get bored halfway through the game and want to flip channels, this game is one to watch.
There’s been a tight race for Rookie of the Year. But No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg is starting to take a comfortable lead. He’s found his groove recently, averaging 25.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists across his last 9 games. The Mavs
have gone 6-3 during that stretch.
I don’t think Dallas will surprise anyone by becoming a title contender this season. However, they have been playing better basketball as Flagg helps them get back on track. They are worth watching now, especially since Anthony Davis has returned to the fold.
I wish I could say the same for New Orleans. They’ve been in a full spiral this season as Zion Williamson continues to be unavailable. If you watch this game, it’s entirely for Dallas because the Pelicans don’t have much to offer right now.
