Keeping up with the rest of the week, Thursday proved to be another busy day for Ohio State’s coaching staff on the recruiting trail. Sending out plenty of new offers to new names, it seems the Buckeyes
are using the offseason to do nothing but recruit.
Several new names worth mentioning, here’s a rundown on the latest players to hear the good news from Ohio State.
Four-star receiver gets Ohio State nod
It hasn’t been that long that he’s been at the helm of Ohio State’s receiver room, but newly named position coach Cortez Hankton is hitting the ground running. Telling to see the players he’s going after, Hankton much like Brian Hartline knows exactly the caliber of player he wants coming to Ohio State.
On Thursday, one of his latest offers went out to a player that has every ability to play for the Buckeyes if he so chooses. Making a stop in Texas, Ohio State and Hankton offered Argyle product, Julian Caldwell.
The No. 59 player nationally and 12th best receiver in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite grades, Caldwell has over 40 offers to his name. A 6-foot, 185 pound athlete, Caldwell has the likes of Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, and plenty of other suitors after his services and that now includes the Buckeyes.
A proven track record in the Lone Star State and with the receiver position specifically, Ohio State has Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Garrett Wilson as prime examples as to why Columbus is a perfect place to land, and that never hurts.
Fellow Texas native also hears from OSU
Sticking in Texas and the receiver position for this next offer, the Buckeyes also made themselves a player for three-star prospect Briceson Thrower. A North Forney product, Ohio State and Hankton joined the likes of 30-plus other programs to throw their name into the mix with the recent offer.
A true outside receiver with a 6-foot-3 frame, the length Thrower has is coveted by every top school, so seeing his offer list is no surprise. The No. 438 player nationally and 58th best receiver in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, programs such as Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, came first, but Ohio State should do more than just be another school on his offer list.
Like any recruit, if the Buckeyes are able to get him on campus to see all that they have to offer, the likelihood of them being a real factor certainly increase. If Hankton is that serious about Thrower’s skillset, the goal will be for him to be in Columbus as soon as spring practice starts.
Buckeyes offer in-state brothers at Akron Hoban
Ohio being one of the top 10 states in the country for producing college football players, the Buckeyes are wise to take a closer look at some of the premier in-state programs, and Akron Hoban fits that mold. A perennial power house on the field, Hoban is no stranger to developing elite division one talent, and they have plenty of new names coming through the ranks.
Offering a pair of brothers on Thursday, the Buckeyes are now on the radar of Brayton and Brydon Feister.
Starting with the older brother Brayton, Ohio State joins another impressive list of 30 programs to offer. A 6-foot-3, 230 pound athlete, Brayton Feister is the No. 266 player nationally and 12th best athlete per the 247Sports Composite.
A class of 2027 target, he lines up on both sides of the ball for Hoban, but likely checks out as a linebacker at the next level, which explains the in-person visit from James Laurinaitis.
Moving on to the younger brother Brydon, the class of 2028 athlete is another physically impressive talent standing already at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds. Unranked currently via his 247Sports profile, he does hold nearly double-digit division one offers, and Ohio State is arguably not only the biggest, but the one to cause a domino effect of more to come in the near future.
Other Big Ten foes such as Indiana and Michigan on his offer sheet, Ohio State will look to fend off the competition for both Feisters brothers. Keeping the pair within their state lines at the next level looks to be a new goal for the coaching staff, and now that the official offers have been sent out the work can really get done.
