Newcastle United continues to cast a wide net for young talent as its recruitment operation has already moved toward players who can develop into long-term first-team options under Matthias Jaissle.
According to Ekrem Konur, Newcastle is now closely monitoring Dinamo Zagreb right-back Noa Mikic. Bayer Leverkusen, Brentford, Hull City and Ipswich Town are also tracking the 19-year-old, although none of the five clubs has submitted an official offer.
“Bayer Leverkusen & English clubs (Newcastle, Brentford,
Hull City, Ipswich Town) closely monitoring Dinamo’s 19yo RB Noa Mikić,” Konur reported. “Situation → 5 clubs analyzing, no official bid yet.”
Dinamo remains in a relatively strong position because Mikić is under contract through 2028. The Croatia Under-19 international has already made 18 appearances at that level and joined Dinamo in October 2025.
Interestingly, Newcastle has already met Mikic at youth level. The defender featured when Dinamo Zagreb’s under-21 side defeated Newcastle United Under-21s 3-0 at Whitley Park in the Premier League International Cup in December 2025.
There is no indication that Newcastle’s current interest stems specifically from that appearance, but the meeting means the club has previously had an opportunity to see Mikic compete against its own young players.
For now, the reported interest remains firmly at the scouting stage, and Newcastle has not made any reported offer, with the other four aforemeintioned other clubs also assessing the Croatian as well.
Would you like Newcastle to move early for prospects such as Mikic before their value rises, or should recruitment focus primarily on players ready for Jaissle’s first team? Share your thoughts in the comments.
