Now that it feels like it has been close to a month since last Thursday, it’s time for the Detroit Lions to get back on that horse in a Week 3 matchup where they will be hosting the New York Jets. Familiar faces abound, with Jets coach Aaron Glenn and defensive coordinator Brian Duker making their return to Detroit. To break everything down, myself and my good friend Meko Scott are back with another episode of “Before the Roar,” where we preview the matchup.
As usual, we we set the table by going
over some of the changes that the Jets made in the offseason, including bringing in veteran coach Frank Reich as offensive coordinator. They also upgraded their quarterback room by bringing in journeyman quarterback Geno Smith in an effort to unlock a strong group of skill players that includes Garrett Wilson at wide receiver, Breece Hall at running back, and rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
Flip to the other side of the ball where the Jets like to hang their hat and you will find a front-seven that is stocked with top-end talent. At the edge rusher position alone, they have Kingsley Enagbare, Will McDonald IV, and second overall pick from the 2026 NFL Draft David Bailey. Combine that room with the addition of All-Pro linebacker Demario Davis and you get a potent mix of youth and veteran leadership for the Jets’ defense.
