Herbert Hainer believes there is only one rightful winner of the Ballon d’Or: Harry Kane.
The Bayern Munich president pointed to Kane’s individual numbers and team success when explaining why he believes the striker deserves the award.
“Harry Kane scored 60 goals in the Bundesliga, Pokal and Champions League, became German champion, won the DFB-Pokal, reached the semifinals of the Champions League, played a very good World Cup,” Hainer said, according to comments shared by @iMiaSanMia.
“I don’t know
what more you have to do to win the Ballon d’Or.”
Hainer was also asked about Lamine Yamal’s recent statements surrounding the award. While he acknowledged the Barcelona star’s quality and potential, Hainer ultimately backed Kane based on his overall season.
“Lamine Yamal is certainly a very good player and has a great future ahead of him, but when you take everything into account last season, then there’s only one winner – and that has to be Harry Kane,” Hainer said.
Kane’s case, according to Hainer, comes down to combining his goalscoring output with the trophies and Champions League run he achieved with Bayern.
