For the 5th game of the 2025 season, the Miami Hurricanes hit the road for the first time, making the trek up to Tallahassee to play another rival team: the Florida State Seminoles.
While Miami has started
the season with big wins over Notre Dame, Bethune Cookman, USF, and Florida, and are ranked near the top of the polls. Florida State started the season with a bang, beating Alabama in week 1. After following that upset victory with consecutive blowout wins over lower tier teams in weeks 2 and 4 (FSU had a bye in week 3), the Noles suffered their first loss of the year last week at Virginia.
Regardless of the records, this rivalry game figures to be tightly contested. Here are the particulars for you to watch this week’s game:

This is another big game for Miami. But, at this point, every game is a big game. The Canes are ranked in the top 5, and they have everything to play for. This week’s game against Florida State is another chance to beat a rival and add a win to the ledger. As for Florida State, they’re looking to rebound not only from last week’s loss to Virginia, but continue their upward movement away from the depths of despair from last season’s 2-10 record. And, much to my chagrin, I do need to say that Mike Norvell has a winning record —3-2 — against Miami.
With Miami pushing for the College Football Playoffs, and Florida State looking to build a successful season, there’s plenty to play for, on top of the normal rivalry week pride and bragging rights. This game is huge for both teams, and I expect them both to bring their best energy and effort to Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday night.
For those going to the game, be loud and enjoy! For those, like me, who will be enjoying this game from somewhere other than Doak Campbell Stadium, be sure you tune in and support your Canes as they continue the 2025 season.
