It’s been a while since our last Syracuse Orange men’s basketball alumni update. Let’s check in on where former Orange are competing professionally.
Buddy Boeheim
It’s been an injury-riddled campaign for
the 26-year-old in his second season with Oklahoma City’s G League team. Boeheim last played on Dec. 27, where he racked up 16 points, six rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes off the bench.
Jimmy Boeheim
Meanwhile, Buddy’s older brother is balling over in Portugal, leading his U.D. Oliveirense team with 20.9 points per game. He’s also averaging over five rebounds and 2.4 assists through the first 11 games.
Oshae Brissett
The former 2024 NBA Champion is spending this season in Israel, where he’s averaging 6.7 points and six rebounds across seven games for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Jaquan Carlos
Carlos is playing in Finland for Kobrat where he is averaging 17 points and 5.8 assists per game. He had a 33 point game last week in a loss. Kobrat is just 2-17 on the season.
Jy’Are Davis
The most recent Orange alum on this list, Davis is spending his first year away from the Dome in Montenegro, playing with SC Derby. Mainly a bench piece, he’s averaging 5.8 points and two rebounds through Derby’s first 13 games.
Jesse Edwards
The Aussie is, fittingly, back where it all started, competing for Melbourne in the Australian Basketball League. Currently in fourth place, Edwards leads United by a wide margin in the rebound department with 7.6 boards per game to go along with 13.2 points per contest.
Tyler Ennis
Like Brissett, Ennis is also in the Israeli Basketball League, serving as the starting point guard (when healthy) for first-place Hapoel Tel Aviv. He’s posted eight points and two assists per game across 21 games.
Joe Girard
This season Girard is in Slovenia where he’s averaging 6.6 points per game through 25 games with KK Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana.
Jerami Grant
The only current Orange in the NBA, Grant remains a valuable asset for Portland. Now in his fourth season with the Trail Blazers, the 31-year-old averages a clean 20.0 points per game and leads the team in 3-point percentage (38.9%). He’s been out since Dec. 18 with an achilles injury, but should be back on the court in the coming days.
Quincy Guerrier
Guerrier is in the G League with Raptors 905. In three games, he’s averaging 13 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Elijah Hughes
The 27-year-old is the starting power forward on Ludwigsburg, one of the top teams in the German Basketball League. Hughes dropped 17 points in Riesen’s last game on Jan. 9, which is right on par with his season average through 15 games.
Judah Mintz
Over in Turkey, Mintz is the leading scorer for Manisa with 15.3 points per game in the Turkish Basketball League. Still just 22, it’s definitely possible we see Judah back in the G League somewhere down the road.
Woody Newton
Newton is playing in Denmark for Hosens IC. He’s played in 17 games and is averaging 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
Kadary Richmond
Richmond’s another former Orange who stayed to play in the G League in hopes of a NBA call-up. He’s with the Capital City Go-Go and in his first three games is averaging 17 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6 assists.
Cole Swider
A handful of “Swider Swishes” have also made their way to the Turkish League. Swider’s posting a tick over six points in 32 games off the bench for Anadolu Efes.
Lucas Taylor
Taylor is with KK Radnik Bijeljina in Bosnia. He’s averaging 16.1 points after his first 7 games.
Symir Torrence
The Syracuse native signed with the Motor City Cruise in the G League. Torrence is averaging 4.3 points and 3.4 assists per game.
Benny Williams
Williams is in Croatia playing for KK Dubrava Zagreb. He is averaging 5.7 points through 4 games.
We’ll check in with these former Orange from time to time this season.
