There is no official word yet, so you can’t take this as gospel, but Duke Wire says it looks like John Blackwell will not be staying in the NBA draft, and the other articles linked at the bottom tend to agree.
That said, it’s his choice, and like DJ Steward, he might not make the best decision. But it’s his life and he should do whatever he thinks is right.
However, if he does come back to college, Duke’s backcourt is going to be unbelievably deep. With Blackwell, Caleb Foster, Cayden Boozer, Deron
Rippey, Bryson Howard, and Dame Sarr all capable perimeter players, there’s just not a lot you can do to resist that level of depth. If he chooses to, Jon Scheyer can crank up the pressure and pace and just run people out of the gym.
This is going to be a very fun season.
