Well what do you know? The Yankees actually made a move last night! Marlins lefty Ryan Weathers wasn’t really in trade rumors, but the Yanks brought him aboard in exchange for four mostly lower-ranked prospects (though Baseball America ranked Dillon Lewis eighth in the system). Michael had the story for us. Weathers will likely get a shot at the rotation, especially with Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodón, and Clarke Schmidt all out while rehabbing.
Today on the site, Peter will offer his analysis on the Weathers
trade, and Sam will dive into the rumor mill and present a potential trade target piece on Luis Robert Jr., a recently-rumored name and one of the last White Sox remaining from their early-2020s contenders. We’ll also have Jeremy on Hideki Matsui’s landmark signing for the 50 Free Agents in 50 Years series and Matt will get creative for our January 14th entry on Yankees Birthdays.
Questions/Prompts:
1. If you had to pick from the binary, do you approve or disapprove of the Yankees’ trade for Ryan Weathers?
2. If you were to guess, do you think the Yankees add another impact starter—even at the possible expense of subtracting one—or hold off?
