Kansas Jayhawk News
Well, the Big 12 has announced their Preseason All Big 12 and:
However, Kansas football is one of four Big 12 programs – along with Colorado, Iowa State, and UCF – without a player represented on either side of the ball. It’s the first time since 2022 that no KU player has made an appearance on the Big 12 media’s preseason team.
This isn’t really a surprise when thinking about the roster but it’s also not a great sign going into a season that has many fans wondering what direction Leipold’s taking
the program.
KU Women’s Basketball has released their full non-conference schedule for next season:
“As we create our non-conference schedule, we always have two goals in mind,” head coach Brandon Schneider said in a press release. “First is play a variety of opponents who will best prepare us for Big 12 play, and second to build a strong resume for NCAA Tournament selection. Our group has been working extremely hard all summer, and we hope our fan base will take advantage of every opportunity to support our young women.”
Joshua Schulman over SI.com offers a breakdown of Phil Steele’s preview of the Jayhawks for the 2026 season:
In the latest issue, Steele broke down the Kansas Jayhawks and their outlook for the 2026 campaign. Like many other outlets, he isn’t especially high on Lance Leipold’s group this season, as Steele picked the Jayhawks to finish tied for 12th out of 16 teams in the Big 12.
Steele projects Baylor, Kansas, and Oklahoma State to tie for 12th place, with only Colorado and Iowa State finishing lower. It’s a grim outlook for a KU squad that has missed bowl eligibility in each of the past two seasons.
Old friend Matt Tait has a post up previewing the entire fall schedule for the Jayhawks. When it includes this line below, it doesn’t help to get me excited for the fall.
All right, let’s say for a second that the Jayhawks are able to get to 5 wins in the 11 games before this one. If that’s the case, especially against that schedule, they should view this regular season finale in Stillwater as a game that gives them a legitimate shot at getting win No. 6 for the first time since 2023.

Even with the US out of the tournament, the World Cup must go on. Mark Ogden at ESPN believes Messi has made his mark this summer:
The debate over football’s GOAT will never be settled conclusively in one player’s favor — Pelé, Diego Maradona, Cristiano Ronaldo all have their die-hard supporters — but this World Cup really is proving once and for all that Messi has no equal.
While it may be a crappy year for Royals fans, Tyler Tolbert had a nice little streak to get his name in the MLB record book:
Tolbert, typically a defensive specialist and pinch runner, tied a major league record with hits in 12 consecutive plate appearances, reaching the mark with an infield single against the New York Mets for his fifth hit in Tuesday’s wild 16-12 comeback win.
Batting ninth, the right fielder hit a two-run homer in the second inning and singled in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. Tolbert’s last three hits were infield hits.
So where does Monday put us as a soccer nation? Probably nowhere, if only because the results are quite literally the same ceiling upon which the USMNT has been bashing its brains for decades. We don’t enjoy wake-up calls to give us the same information we already had. Belgium is better because it has always been better, and the round of 16 is still the end of road because it has always been the end of the road.
QOTD: With the USMNT out of the tournament, what are you watching for the next 7 weeks until college football gets going?
