Middleweights Jackson McVey vs. Wes Schultz squared off earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 22, 2026) at UFC Sacramento LIVE on Paramount+ from inside the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. In a strong performance, McVey scored the first-round knockout.
This fight began with an extended grappling exchange. Schultz forced the wrestling and then jumped on the neck, putting McVey on the defensive with a guillotine. McVey scrambled well, however, and he regained his footing when Schultz tried to transition
to a d’arce choke.
Back on the feet, McVey was clearly the sharper striker. Schultz looked tired from his submission attempt, allowing McVey to connect often. “The Moose” didn’t force anything, merely touching his opponent consistently and waiting for a big connection. When Schultz tried to initiate another grappling exchange, he stepped directly into a crushing knee to the body.

Four fights into his UFC career, McVey has yet to see the judges’ scorecards in victory or defeat. Fortunately, consecutive finish victories have brought his UFC record to an even 2-2 as well. If nothing else, he’s a fun fighter with good composure and consistent aggression. As for Schultz, his Octagon record drops to 1-2, and this was not a particularly good showing.
