Washington State unveiled their uniforms on Wednesday for their Homecoming game against the San Diego State Aztecs on Saturday.
For the fourth straight season, WSU will wear a “WAZZU” decal on their helmets. This time, the Wazzu logo will be on the white helmet for the first time, making it a new helmet style and the 18th different helmet WSU has worn since 2017.
The Wazzu decal first emerged in 2022 on the crimson helmets
with a more cursive style.

In 2023, WSU switched up the decal, opting for more of an italicized, easier-to-read look against the Colorado Buffaloes, and slapping it on the anthracite helmet.

2024 saw the marriage of the 2022 and 2023 helmets, using the all-crimson lids with the new Wazzu font.

Now in 2025, WSU will go for the inverse of last year with the all-white helmet shell and the Wazzu logo in crimson. They will pair this with their crimson jersey and crimson pants, going for the “ketchup bottle” look they most famously donned in the 2018 Alamo Bowl.

WSU has worn the white helmet, crimson jersey, and crimson pants look three times since 2018. The first being that Alamo Bowl win over Iowa State. They made their Martin Stadium debut in 2021 in a win over Portland State and returned the following year in a win over Cal.
As for the Wazzu logo, the Cougs lost that first game in 2022 to Utah before rebounding to win with the italicized versions in 2023 and 2024. After picking up a win last week, the crimson jersey advanced to 26-11 since 2017. The white shells and crimson pants make their 2025 debuts, holding a 12-11 and 16-14 record, respectively.
I personally think this is one of the cleanest looks WSU has worn. While I liked the original ketchup bottle look when it first rolled out in 2018, I think having that script logo makes it look just a little cleaner. The only thing I’d change is adding a crimson facemask to match the jersey and pants. The crimson facemask has also performed better with a 36-23 record compared to the white facemask’s 15-17 record.
