Barcelona’s medical staff are in the spotlight currently due to the club’s ongoing injury crisis which claimed its latest victim in Pedri this week.
A new report from Diario AS states that “the squad’s
physical condition is a major concern for Hansi Flick” and adds that the club’s data shows a big drop in fitness which the medical staff believe is the reason for all their injuries.
AS also report that there is some discontent in the squd as “several first-team players have to complete their training outside the club’s facilities.”
The squad’s main complaint “is that they aren’t doing enough strength training in the gym” and many therefore take matters into their own hands away from the Ciutat Esportiva.
These complaints have seemingly not going unnoticed by Barca’s staff. The plan is to dedicate more time to strength training in the gym under the direction of Julio Tous, the current head of physical training.
Barcelona will certainly be hoping they can find a solution to their injury problems which have seen stars including Joan Garcia, Gavi, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, Pedri, Dani Olmo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen sidelined at various points in the early weeks of the new campaign.
