Like so many of the infuriatingly feeble losses I’ve had the pleasure of writing about so far this season, this will be short.
Cantillo was bad, and got beat around by the Rays. Infuriatingly, it wasn’t any of the good Rays hitters that did him in. It was everyone else. Ryan Vilade hit a 94 mph 2-run homer, Cedric Mullins hit a triple, and Johnny DeLuca, Ben Williamson, and Nick Fortes all recorded RBIs.
Cantillo didn’t get out of the 4th. Festa was brought in to relieve him with the bases loaded.
Herrin gave up a run. Armstrong gave up 3 (2 of which were actually given up by Gaddis on a 3-run homer), and Gaddis “1”.
The lineup was similarly atrocious today. 4 Guardians with a hit, 3 with a multi-hit game. DeLauter (1/3, BB), Rocchio, Arias, Hedges. Two XBH among those 4 (Rocchio, Hedges). Two walks (DeLauter, Hedges).
At least Hedges had a good game! 2/3, 2 RBI, HR, BB.
The Guardians lost 11-3.
Bad.
