Valter Walker was not happy about his UFC Rio fight being canceled ahead of this weekend’s card, but that didn’t stop the heavyweight prospect from still weighing in on Friday (official results HERE).
In case you missed it, Walker was removed from UFC Rio’s card on Thursday after his opponent, Mohammed Usman, was forced to withdraw from the event due to “injury.” On Friday morning, it was revealed that Usman had failed a drug test dating back to September that showed elevated testosterone levels.
That’s not exactly the “injury” that was first reported.
As you might have guessed, Walker was not happy to learn of Usman’s failed drug test and that that was the reason the fight was scrapped. The streaking heavyweight fighter — who has captured three-straight heel hook submission finishes — was set to make his first UFC appearance on Brazilian soil. It was supposed to be a big homecoming for Walker as he tries to follow in the footsteps of his older brother, UFC light heavyweight veteran Johnny Walker.
Despite his fight cancelation, “Foot Hunter” still weighed in on Friday to show off his heavyweight physique and to talk some trash about Usman. Afterwards, Walker broke down in tears backstage as reality set in (again) that he wouldn’t be fighting this weekend in front of his home crowd.
“I trained a lot for this fight, and this motherf—ker ran,” said Walker as he successfully weighed in just for show. “Look at my shape for the heavyweight division!”
