Former Barcelona B coach Xavier García Pimienta has shared his verdict on Hansi Flick’s recent comments about egos at Barcelona.
The German coach raised a few eyebrows when he said “ego kills success, you have to be a team” after Barcelona’s La Liga draw with Rayo last time out.
Flick’s words have already been discussed by Lamine Yamal and Pedri, and Garcia Pimienta has now shared his thoughts.
“He wants to send some message, that’s clear. And if he’s given it to the press, he’s surely also given it in
the locker room, even on a personal level to the right person,” he told El Larguero.
“This is a team sport. So… if everyone doesn’t look out for the team and the only good is that of the team, it’s impossible for things to go well. In the end, a great player can win a game, but if you want to achieve important things, like a league title, you need everyone to be committed.”
Flick now has his players back after the international break and is preparing to take on Valencia. The boss has been critical of his team on several occasions this season and will demand improvements for Sunday.
