“Lady” Mir is a national champion.
No. 2 seed Bella Mir, daughter of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion Frank Mir, upset No. 1 seed Reese Larramendy at the first-ever NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships to capture the NCAA national title at 145 pounds this past weekend (Sat., March 7, 2026) inside Xtream Arena in Coralville.
Mir, who wrestled for North Central College in her final opportunity to claim a national title, scored an early takedown on Larramendy, who represented
the University of Iowa. Later in the opening period, Mir executed a beautiful reversal that led to her pinning Larramendy’s shoulders to the mat for the win.

A couple of notable tidbits from the match: Mir exacted revenge on Larramendy, who handed her the only loss of the season, and was once a former teammate. The victory also snapped Larramendy’s impressive 35-match winning streak.
With her iconic collegiate wrestling career now complete, all signs point to Mir returning to mixed martial arts (MMA), where she currently holds a perfect 4-0 record with three first-round submission victories.
She has previously mentioned the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles as a long-term goal — which could make her the first active UFC fighter to compete in the Olympics simultaneously, assuming she signs with the promotion by 2028.
However, during her post-fight interview after winning the NCAA championship, when asked whether she plans to return to MMA, Mir gave a very direct answer.
“I think we’re going to go have a fight, baby.”
