NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that former Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs has signed with the New England Patriots on a deal worth “roughly” four years and $70 million. Compensatory draft picks are based on a player’s average per year, and the $70 million mark would place Doubs at $17.5 million per season. That is good enough for a fourth-round compensatory draft pick, as long as the Packers don’t offset it.
Assuming that Rasheed Walker will be able to get a deal north of $20 million
per, Green Bay’s comp picks in 2027 should be:
- 3rd: Malik Willis (after cap casualties and playing time)
- 3rd: Rasheed Walker (projection, but an educated one)
- 4th: Romeo Doubs
- 5th: Quay Walker
The Packers canceled out their phantom sixth-round comp pick for Kingsley Enagbare (the team can only collect four per season) with the signing of compensatory free agent cornerback Benjamin St-Juste earlier today.

Update: ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is now calling it a four-year, $80 million contract. An APY of $20 million has the potential to move into the third round range, depending on cap casualties, injuries that lead to missed playing time for highly-paid players this year and Doubs staying on the field in 2026. It’s probably going to be a fourth-rounder, but the door is open now.
If you want to learn how the NFL’s stupid comp pick system works, we wrote an in-depth piece last week.

Doubs was drafted in the fourth round by the Packers in 2022 and has started 50 games for the team over the last four seasons. During his time in Green Bay, he brought in 202 receptions, 2,424 yards and 21 touchdowns. He was also the Packers’ punt returner in 2025, even though he only averaged 6.3 yards per return last year. With Brandon Aiyuk and Stefon Diggs expected to be released, Doubs’ $20 million per APY ranks 22nd in the NFL among receivers.
