Magomed Magomedov suffered a third-round TKO defeat to Daniel Marcos in the preliminary portion of PFL Tampa after his cornerman Islam Makhachev throw in the towel second into the third round due to an injury.
Magomedov, a one-time Bellator title contender, welcomed UFC veteran Marcos to the PFL in a bantamweight showdown and engaged in a wrestling-heavy clash for two rounds, but dislocated his left shoulder late in round two.
Makhachev and other cornermen spent an entire minute in between rounds trying
to put the shoulder back in place, with no success. The referee called for a doctor to check on Magomedov, and he was allowed to continue despite the injury.
The third round started and Marcos moved the injured arm as soon as they clinched against the cage, so the UFC welterweight champion decided to throw in the towel 11 seconds into the final round to avoid more damage.
