Borussia Dortmund are off to the races! After throwing away a two-goal lead against St. Pauli last week, BVB got their first win of the Bundesliga season this afternoon in a 3-0 win against Union Berlin. Two goals from Serhou Guirassy and a third from Felix Nmecha gave Dortmund all three points, but the score probably flattered BVB a little. They were the better side, but the performance was at times unconvincing. Still, they came away with the win and never really looked in any danger. It’s a start.
Here are the nominations for Borussia Dortmund’s Man of the Match in their 2-0 win against Union Berlin:
Serhou Guirassy
Guirassy was lively throughout, scoring twice from eight shots. A fantastic striker’s performance.
Yan Couto
I thought Couto was BVB’s primary creative outlet this afternoon, and he earned an assist from a lovely cross for Guirassy’s opening goal. It’s good to see Couto starting to really find his feet at Dortmund.
Aaron Anselmino
Anselmino’s debut couldn’t have gone much better. He almost gifted Union a goal early on, when a weak header back to the keeper was picked up by Andrej Ilic, but his blushes were saved when Ilic send the shot wide, and from that point on it was an almost perfect performance.
Maximilian Beier
Beier provided the assist for Guirassy’s second and was linking up well in the final third in the second half.
