Liverpool’s pre-season preparations begin in proper next week, and a fair few key stars will be reporting well after that due to their participation at this summer’s World Cup, but for some today was the first day back at the AXA Training Centre and a chance to meet new head coach Andoni Iraola for the first time.
Players who spent last season elsewhere, including Harvey Elliott and James McConnell who spent time out on loan in 2025-26 and new signing Jeremy Jacquet who formally arrives from Rennes
after signing in January but seeing out the season at the French club, it was a first day back at the AXA for preparatory work.
Meanwhile, injured players including Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Wataru Endo, and Giovanni Leoni were also on hand as they continue to do rehab work. It feels as though it’s hardly been a minute of course since last season ended, but still, it’s good to have Liverpool football at least on the horizon.
Liverpool’s first pre-season matches will come on their USA tour with Sunderland up first in Nashville on July 25th before the Reds face Wrexham on the 29th in New York and wrap with Leeds in Chicago on August 2nd before returning to England.
